Election Day 2026 in New Jersey: Polls Open 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, and the Mail Ballot Deadlines Still Open (New Jersey Garden News)

New Jersey's nine days of early voting end Sunday, November 1, with early sites open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. There is no in-person early voting on Monday. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, when polls across New Jersey open at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.; a voter who is in line before 8 p.m. may still vote after the polls close, under the state's published rules. New Jersey voters are deciding a U.S. Senate seat and all 12 of the state's seats in the U.S. House of Representatives, along with county and municipal offices.

Two mail-ballot routes are still open. A voter who has not yet applied can still apply in person at the County Clerk's office until 3 p.m. on Monday, November 2. A completed mail ballot can be placed in a secure drop box in the voter's county, or delivered to the County Board of Elections, by 8 p.m. on Election Day; a ballot sent by mail must be postmarked by Election Day and reach the county board by November 9. Mail ballots cannot be returned to a polling place.

Voters can vote early at any early voting location in their own county, but on Election Day they vote at their assigned polling place. Anyone who voted by mail can check its status with the state's Track My Ballot tool. The Attorney General's separate guidance to law enforcement for this election - that civilian election officials, not police, run the polls - is covered in a companion story on this site.
