New Jersey Traffic: Truck Fire Closes US 206 in Chester, Crash Closes US 1&9 in Fort Lee, NJ Transit Cancels Trains (New Jersey Garden News)

Two closures led New Jersey's Saturday afternoon roads. The 511NJ incident feed reported a truck fire on US 206 in both directions north of CR 512 / Pottersville Road in Chester Township, with all lanes closed northbound, in an update timed 1:29 p.m. The same feed reported a crash on US 1&9 in both directions south of Bergen Boulevard in Fort Lee, with all lanes closed in both directions, timed 12:14 p.m. No official source in the feeds read by this desk confirmed any death or injury in either incident, and details beyond the closures are still coming from officials.

Drivers also met delays on the Garden State Parkway northbound from south of Exit 149 in Bloomfield to south of Exit 151, and on NJ 4 and NJ 17 in Bergen County, all with lanes open, according to the 511NJ feed. Motorists heading toward the closed stretches should expect detours and check 511NJ before leaving.

On the rails, NJ Transit's Morris and Essex train #6920, the 1:13 p.m. arrival at Penn Station New York, was up to 45 minutes late after a request for police assistance for an unruly customer at Madison, the railroad reported at 12:50 p.m. Northeast Corridor train #7838 from Trenton was cancelled for crew availability, with riders directed to train #7840, and train #7837 from Penn Station was also cancelled. On the North Jersey Coast Line, several trains were cancelled for the same stated reason, crew availability at departure.
