Halloween Weather in New Jersey: Clear and Cool for Trick-or-Treating on Saturday (New Jersey Garden News)

Halloween falls on a Saturday this year, and New Jersey's weather is cooperating. The station's live weather feed on Saturday afternoon showed clear skies and 60.3 degrees, with a forecast high near 60 and a low near 43 for the day - cool enough for costumes with a layer underneath, and dry for neighborhood trick-or-treating. Sunday turns overcast with a high near 62 and a low near 39, followed by a high near 66 on Monday and near 68 on Tuesday.

Families looking for an organized start to the day had the New Jersey State Museum's Halloween Spooktacular in Trenton, listed from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 205 West State Street, with trick-or-treating beginning at 11 a.m. and a costume parade on the front lawn. At the shore, Pier Village in Long Branch listed its Halloween Spooktacular from 1 to 5 p.m., with trick-or-treating throughout the village.

In Essex County, Turtle Back Zoo's Howl-O-Ween runs Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. at 560 Northfield Avenue in West Orange, with candy stations throughout the grounds; published listings put admission at $5 per person, with children under 2 free. And the night comes with a bonus: daylight saving time ends early Sunday, so New Jersey clocks turn back an hour and the state gets an extra hour of sleep after the candy run.
