New Jersey Traffic on Sunday Morning: Work on the GWB Lower Level and the Turnpike Extension, and US 9 Cones in Woodbridge
The marathon owns the morning's headlines, but the work zones own the rest of the map: Port Authority construction on the George Washington Bridge's lower level, Turnpike Authority roadwork on the Hudson County Extension by the Newark Bay Bridge, and NJDOT work on US 9 in Woodbridge.

Sunday's roads are a marathon map laid over a work map. The 511NJ active-events feed read by this desk lists Port Authority construction on the George Washington Bridge's lower level eastbound, from the Fort Lee side to the New York side, logged Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. — the same crossing whose north walkway special event runs until 4:45 a.m. Monday. Drivers heading for the bridge this morning should expect the lower level to be a work zone, not a shortcut.
The toll roads are working too. The feed lists New Jersey Turnpike Authority roadwork on the Turnpike's Hudson County Extension eastbound, west of the Newark Bay Bridge in Newark to west of Interchange 14, logged Saturday at 8:59 p.m., and NJDOT roadwork on US 9 northbound in Woodbridge, between north of the Edison Bridge and north of CR 616/New Brunswick Avenue. In Newark itself, the Prudential Center's Sunday calendar — a Disney On Ice performance listed for this morning — adds arena traffic to the roadwork map downtown.
The systems advice is unchanged from Saturday: NJ Transit rail is running the Portal Cutover weekend schedule, with Midtown Direct trains to and from New York Penn Station and no cross-honoring in Hoboken, and the River LINE gap in Camden (reported in this station's earlier file) runs through Sunday night. The weather is the one cooperating agency — the station's live feed calls for a dry Sunday, high 62 and no precipitation. Check the crossing and the corridor before you leave; the cones, this weekend, are not moving for anyone.
