GetCoveredNJ Open Enrollment Opens Today for 2027 Coverage, With the State's Exchange Smaller Than a Year Ago
New Jersey's official health insurance marketplace opens its 2027 enrollment window on November 1 and runs through January 31 — and it opens with 434,700 people enrolled, down 74,492 from the end of the last open enrollment.

New Jerseyans who buy their own health insurance have a new window, starting today. Get Covered New Jersey, the state's official health insurance marketplace, operated by the Department of Banking and Insurance, kicked off open enrollment for the 2027 plan year on November 1, according to the Sherrill Administration's announcement, and the window runs through January 31, 2027.
The marketplace opens smaller than it was. Total enrollment on the state exchange stood at 434,700 as of June 30, the announcement states — a net decrease of 74,492 people since the end of the last open enrollment on January 31, 2026, when enrollment stood at 509,192. The administration attributes the pressure to federal changes: in the announcement, Governor Mikie Sherrill said that tens of thousands of residents have already been priced out of health coverage under the Affordable Care Act and that hundreds of thousands more are at risk of losing Medicaid eligibility, and the announcement notes that under H.R. 1, signed by President Trump, certain legally present non-citizens will become ineligible for financial help starting in 2027.
For shoppers, the practical facts are the dates and the doors. Enrollment assistance is available through GetCovered.NJ.gov and the marketplace's Customer Call Center at 1-833-677-1010 (TTY 711), and plans bought in this window are the 2027 coverage year. Anyone whose coverage lapsed during the year the exchange shrank — and anyone buying for the first time — has from today until the end of January to get into a plan.
