The Turnpike is shut in two places at once. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority lists roadwork on the Turnpike/I-95 southbound between north of Exit 72A (NJ 4, Fort Lee) and south of Exit 69 (I-80, Ridgefield Park) with all lanes closed until 4:00 a.m., and a second all-lanes closure on the outer roadway southbound between north of Interchange 14 (I-78/US 1&9, Newark) and south of Interchange 7A (I-195, Hamilton Township) until 5:00 a.m. Southbound overnight drivers face detours at both ends of the corridor on the same night.
The Parkway and the state highways fill out the program. On the Garden State Parkway northbound, two left lanes are closed from the Connie Chung Service Area in Bloomfield to north of Exit 155B in Clifton until 5:00 a.m., and two right lanes are closed on the outer roadway northbound between north of Exit 117 (Aberdeen Township) and the Jon Bon Jovi Service Area in Sayreville until 6:00 a.m. NJDOT also lists NJ 18 northbound work at Old Bridge Turnpike/Edgeboro Road in East Brunswick from 9:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., and 9 p.m. lane closures on NJ 29 in Hamilton, US 46 in Montville and Parsippany, I-80 in Roxbury, I-280 in West Orange and NJ 21 in Wallington and Passaic. The practical advice is the feed's own shape: everything listed reopens between 4 and 6 a.m. — just as the first Election Day voters and the crews who will count their ballots start moving.
