New Jersey Traffic Saturday Night: A Vehicle on the Tracks Delays a Hoboken Train, and MetLife Trains Run Sunday
A Main/Bergen-Port Jervis Line train due into Hoboken at 7:39 p.m. ran up to 25 minutes late Saturday after a motor vehicle was stuck on the tracks near Tuxedo, NJ Transit reported, on a weekend when the Portal Cutover schedule governs most rail service.

NJ Transit reported Saturday evening that Main/Bergen County-Port Jervis Line train #80, scheduled to arrive at Hoboken at 7:39 p.m., was running up to 25 minutes late because of an earlier motor vehicle stuck on the tracks near Tuxedo. No official source had confirmed any injury in that incident as of this filing, and none is reported here. The delay was the newest entry on the railroad's status board on a day already shaped by crew-availability cancellations on the North Jersey Coast Line and the Northeast Corridor, covered earlier on this site.
Systemwide, NJ Transit rail service - except the Atlantic City Rail Line - is operating on the Portal Cutover weekend schedule, with Midtown Direct service running to and from Penn Station New York and no cross-honoring in Hoboken. For the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines, Metro-North cross-honoring is in place at select stations on Saturday and Sunday. The cutover work, which is putting the second track of the new Portal North Bridge into service, continues to govern schedules through November 14.
Sunday brings the weekend's biggest scheduled rail movement: NJ Transit is offering rail service between Secaucus Junction and Hoboken Terminal and MetLife Stadium for the Jets' game against the Raiders on Sunday, November 1. Riders heading to the stadium - and anyone travelling for the final day of early voting - should check NJ Transit alerts before leaving, because the cutover schedule, not the regular weekend timetable, is the one in force.
