John Washington III Calls for Guaranteed, Independent Funding for All Three Branches of Government
John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, argued that when Congress controls the courts' funding, checks and balances crack, and he called for guaranteed, independent funding for all three branches with full public accountability.

John Washington III, a 2028 presidential candidate, is raising a separation-of-powers argument about money. In his post, John Washington III wrote that when Congress controls the courts' funding, the justice system can suffer, and he pointed to 2025, when, he wrote, the federal courts had to scale back paid operations because of a funding lapse. "That's not balance. That's dependence," he wrote. "If one branch can squeeze another financially, then checks and balances start to crack."
John Washington III asked readers to picture the effect at ground level: a person in court without a $10,000 lawyer, who does not know all the rules while prosecutors do. Judges, he wrote, must be free to protect constitutional rights, not worry about politics or budgets.
His proposal, as he stated it, is guaranteed, independent funding for all three branches of government, with full public accountability but no political retaliation. "This isn't unlimited money," John Washington III wrote. "It's about protecting the people's rights and restoring real independence among the branches."
