Where's My ANCHOR Check? New Jersey's Rebate Status Tool — and Today, November 2, Is the Last Day to File for the 2025 Benefit (New Jersey Garden News)

Two different ANCHOR questions land on the same day. The first is where the money is: New Jersey's latest ANCHOR benefits — the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters property tax relief program — are going out, and residents can check the status of their application and payment through the state's online ANCHOR status system, on the Division of Taxation's ANCHOR page at nj.gov/treasury/taxation/anchor/, using a Social Security number or individual taxpayer identification number and a ZIP code. This year's benefit is based on a resident's income, age and residency in 2025.

Many residents never filed anything this year, by design. For most eligible homeowners under 65 who are not receiving Social Security Disability or Railroad Retirement Disability benefits, and for most eligible renters, the state automatically filed the application, and confirmation letters went out beginning August 10. If last year's benefit arrived by direct deposit, the state used that same banking information for the 2025 benefit unless a change was requested by the September 15 deadline — one reason a payment can land in an account a household is no longer watching.

The second question is for anyone who was not automatically filed and has not applied: today is the deadline. Eligible residents have until Monday, November 2 to submit the 2025 ANCHOR application — and senior homeowners and residents collecting disability benefits, who must file the combined PAS-1 and are never automatically filed, are under the same clock. The state is holding a filing event today from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at the Division of Taxation, 3 John Fitch Way in Trenton, with help for PAS-1 and ANC-1 applications, and the Galloway, Freehold, Fair Lawn and Cranford offices also remain open until 8 p.m. for filing assistance.
