New Jersey Weather Midday: 63.1 and Warming Toward 67.2 — but Election Day Has Been Revised Down to 69.7, and Wednesday Now Reads Fog

The feed moved twice at midday: Tuesday's headline high drops from the 70.8 that held for two days to 69.7, and Wednesday's code flips to fog with the overnight low down to 50.5. The voting conclusion does not change — Tuesday is still dry at a 4 percent rain chance.

New Jersey Weather Midday: 63.1 and Warming Toward 67.2 — but Election Day Has Been Revised Down to 69.7, and Wednesday Now Reads Fog (New Jersey Garden News)

Monday's warm-up is nearly complete on the station's live feed. The current reading at midday is 63.1 degrees, feeling like 57.3, under a mainly clear sky (code 1) — up from 56.2 at mid-morning — on the way to a Monday high of 67.2, nudged up from 66.8, with the rain chance holding at 1 percent and the overnight low at 42.3. It is, by November standards, a mild and dry Election Eve afternoon across New Jersey.

The feed's headline change is Tuesday's. Election Day's high has been revised down to 69.7 degrees, from the 70.8 that held unchanged through four straight readings across Sunday night and Monday morning. The rest of Tuesday's line is steady — a low of 43.2 for the 6 a.m. poll opening and a rain chance of just 4 percent under an overcast code (3) — so the revision is a degree of warmth, not a change of kind: voters still get a dry, jacket-light day, a degree cooler than the forecast promised this morning. Wednesday follows at 70.4, but its character has changed on the feed: the code now reads 45 — fog — and the overnight low has dropped to 50.5, from 55.7 in the last reading, a noticeably cooler and murkier start to the day after the election.

The back of the week is unchanged in shape and slightly wetter in degree. Thursday's showers (code 81) carry the week's highest rain chance, now 57 percent, at a high of 67.5; Friday reads 70.0 with a 54 percent chance under a code 51; Saturday cools to 64.4 at 44 percent and Sunday to 58.2. None of it touches the voting window. The forecast story of Election Eve is a small, honest correction: tomorrow will be a degree cooler than advertised — and still the driest, mildest voting day New Jersey could reasonably ask for in November.
