Election Week Turns Wet Late: Dry and Mild Through Wednesday in New Jersey, Then Rain Chances Jump Thursday and Friday (New Jersey Garden News)

The dry stretch that carried Halloween, marathon Sunday and the final early-voting day has an end date on the station's board. Through Wednesday the feed stays clear and mild - Wednesday itself reads a code 0, clear sky, with a high of 67.1 and a precipitation chance of just 1 percent. Election Day, Tuesday, is the same story at 67.7 with a 2 percent chance, as the Weather Desk's afternoon file details. The turn begins Thursday.

Thursday's code is 53 - drizzle - with the precipitation chance jumping to 45 percent, a high of 67.0 and a low of only 58.3. Friday carries the week's highest rain chance, 54 percent, under a code 80 for rain showers, with a high of 65.6 and a low of 60.9 - a night warmer than tonight's low by more than twenty degrees. Saturday stays unsettled at a 41 percent drizzle chance, a high of 61.9 and a low of 56.5. In other words, the second half of the week is a different season from the first: the cold, clear air that put tonight at 39.4 gives way to a warm, damp flow.

For planning, the practical split is Wednesday. Outdoor work, travel and anything weather-exposed is best done in the dry half of the week; Thursday through Saturday should be treated as wet until the feed says otherwise. The desk will update the late-week numbers every cycle as the Open-Meteo feed refreshes, and will name any advisory the moment one appears in it - none is in the feed this cycle.
